FUN FACTS

Our peppers are really fruits in disguise! Although generally considered a vegetable in the kitchen, peppers are part of the Capsicum annuum fruit family.

The misleading name "pepper" came from Christopher Columbus, who named it after the unrelated plant, peppercorn.

Red bell peppers contain the highest amount of vitamin C.

One large red bell pepper contains 209mg of vitamin C, which is twice the content of a green pepper and nearly three times the content of an orange pepper.

Bell peppers originated in South America around 5,000 BC.

Although they only gained popularity after being spread around the world by Spanish Explorers in 1493.
